In Her Own Words...
Artistic Instincts
"My interest in becoming a professional artist, gallerist & psychology major started very early.. I grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan in a small art community called Saugatuck, Michigan. I basically soaked up the vibes in and around art galleries within my small town which was home to the famous Ox-Bow Art School. I was exposed to art through the many different artists within my town. I also took studio art and graphic design classes during my high school years at Saugatuck High School and Careerline Tech Center. And at 14yrs I went into a hands-on 2yr exploration World Religions. I toured many different places of worship as part of the youth world religion class at Fountain Street Church in Grand Rapids, MI. At the same time I also studied World Religion and Philosophy Course taught by Dr. Donald Hooekstra. All this was a psycho-spiritual launch pad for artmaking before the age of 18!"
Medias
"I created art in and out of school growing up. I developed my own 'self-taught' skills in life drawing, portraits, magical realism, fashion design, illustrations and creating books. I started with using charcoal, watercolor, pastel and pen and ink and alcohol markers. Later on in high school and college I would learn about oil paints, gouache, photography, digital art, pin hole photography, jewelry making, stained glass, mosaic, glassblowing, sand painting, dance, ritual, music, weaving, as well as many other art forms. I love the watery medias- appreciating their workability as well as the spontaneity of the medias that spread unpredictably across the canvas or paper. Gouache has to be my favorite. One thing remains the same thorugh the medias, as my work is diverse, but it is always about color!"

Travel
"World Travel is my passion and continues to greatly influence and inform my work as an artist. Inspiration comes from connecting to people and places arcoss the globe. I have been to China, Italy, Spain, England, Scotland, Guatemala, Belieze, The Carribean, Canada, France, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Greece Switzerland, Austria, The Netherlands, Crete, Belgium, Iceland and Peru, I saw Africa off in an 8 mile distance from Rock of Gibartar and I have also traveled to most of the 50 states!"

Educational Background
"My many teachers in early stages of my life include Perry Sevitt who was an inspriation to me in my love of graphic art, Pop Art and Andy Warhol. I also learned a great deal in my BA at Goddard College from Janet Massad and Sarah Bowen both art teachers who helped my cultivation of unique, brave and informed art making. Painting I was naturally drawn to, but these two made sure I explored Religions, Alchemy, Eco-Psychology and All of the Studio Arts! There are also many outstanding Art Therapy Professors that I had through the MA Program at Prescott College. They were each the inspiration for my persuit of an Expressive Arts Therapies Degree. I worked with Pat Allen, Shaun McNiff, Bruce Moon, Mildred Lachman-Chapin, Dr. Cappi Lang Comba, Debora McCall, Mary Reich, Art & Sandy Robbins, Gabrielle Roth. I met Michael Franklin at Naropa University and took my first workshop on Art Therapy with his instructon. "Working with these amazing artists and art therapists created within me a real appreciation for the work and for the goal of being present and aware of the sacredness of all life and through the art making process."
Additional Educational Enrichment
"I owe a lot to my art-loving parents.. My parents toured me around some of the best art museums in the world by age 13yrs. This included: London National Gallery, Murano Glass Museum, Parc Gruell in Barcelona, The Louvre, The Uffizi, Saltzburg Museum, Galleria dell'Accademia, Vincent Van Gogh Museum at The Hague, Jean Miro Museum, Museu Picasso, Stonehenge, The Chicago Art Museum, Metropolitain Museum of Art, The Smithsonian National Museum, The Vigeland Park in Oslo, Norway, Vercsailles and The Fleming Museum just to name just a few. Many more museums came my way as I traveled such as: The Prado Gallery Mardid, The Renia Sophia, The Whiney, The Phippin Museum of Western Art, The Pergamon Museum Berlin, Acropolis Museum, MoMA, The Ghetty, Kycuit Museum, The Venice Art Biennale, The Biltmore Estate Museum, Guggenhiem NYC, SMoCA, The Bread and Puppet Museum, The Folk Art Museum in Santa Fe, The Georgia O'Keffee Museum Santa Fe, The Palace of Fine Arts Santa Fe, The Museum of the Acropolis, The Heard Museum in Phoenix, Venice Bi-Annual Contemporary Art Expo 1997, The Guggenhien Venice, Murano Glass in Venice. Four of my favorite art museums in the world are the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, FL, The Chicago Art Museum, The Bread and Puppet Museum and The Nicholas Roerich Museum, NYC."
Art Business
"Charlotte Potok is the one responsible for coaxing me into Art Business. A fiesty lady she was; I considered her a "lighthouse keeper" for all who were artists and wandered through the Green Moutains, hills and vallies of Central Vermont. I began my career as a Gallery Owner as the Co-Manager of The "Blinking Light Gallery" in Plainfield, VT for 2 years. This included a fundraiser to keep the gallery open! The gallery went on to serve the community an additional 15yrs."

ABOUT
Eye on the Mountain Art Gallery
"The Eye on the Mountain Art Gallery was founded in 2004 in Prescott, Arizona. It was inspired by the visionary art that I saw in and around Santa Fe, Taos and the southwest in general. This gallery vision was driven by an intention to share art with community, a love of uniqueness and diversity in art and from a need for "something different," came "The Eye." As soon as the galleries doors opened in Prescott, Arizona in 2004, more and more self-taught and visionary artists began to arrive. "The Eye" opened up opportunities for over 100 various solo artists, group art shows and fundraisers. These art shows have helped the gallery to become known as a place for art enthusists, collectors, spiritual seekers and intellectuals alike. It provides a place to gather and discuss, create, improve upon, become aware, and just enjoy a relaxed, innovative sacred space where one can enter into a multicultural, visionary and often healing visual experience."
